Today's Bible Verse
Judges 8:20 - "And he said unto Jether his firstborn, Up, and slay them. But the youth drew not his sword: for he feared, because he was yet a youth."
Is the Christian allowed to take credit?
Nowadays, in the churches and the world, it is accepted to take loans from the bank for various personal needs or the work of God. We would like to ask you about loans and multiple methods of borrowing from the banking system. Help us to understand what God's Word says on this subject. Do we Christians have the right to take credit? It is the question!
Nowhere in the Bible does God forbid us to borrow money or goods from anyone. God called his people Israel to full obedience to His Word, giving them this promise:
”For the Lord, your God will bless you as he has promised, and you will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. You will rule over many nations but none will rule over you.” (Deuteronomy 15: 6)
It is good to learn to live within the limits of the wealth you have earned through work and not be in a hurry to borrow because
”The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is the servant of the borrower.” (Proverbs 22: 7)
However, each of us sometimes needs to borrow money or goods from others. Hurry up and get them back in time, because ”the wicked borroweth, and payeth not again; but the righteous is merciful and gives.” (Psalm 37:21)
So, if we borrow money from people or the bank, we have to hurry to return this money on the promised terms. And if something happens that keeps you from repaying your money on time, don't start hiding and dodging your debt. Don't act like a thief and steal that money. If the time is running out and you can't repay the money, go to the person or bank you borrowed from, explain the situation to them, and then apologize and extend the time you need to repay the debt.
Debt has become the sine qua non of a rich present, which is delivered to the consumer with one clause: that of pledging the future. Therefore, many say that being a Christian and in debt are two mutually exclusive attributes.
The road to debt relief was long, exhausting, and fraught with sacrifices, but Jean and Allen decided to take it to the last step, before losing everything they had and before they lost each other.
If the ads and offers to defer payment ("buy now and pay later, in installments easy to pay") cover a truth, it is that the payment does not become easier just because it is placed at a time other than the euphoria of possession. In reality, the debt puts the "happy" beneficiary between the braces of a present full of satisfaction and a future choked with deadlines. And even if a Christian could arm himself with various theories about prosperity, faith, and miracles to justify his optimism, the time of maturity remains a traumatic one when payment difficulties arise on the horizon.
